Seminar on “Free Trade Agreements & Safe Guard Duty”

We partnered with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) to organize a half-day Seminar on 10 July 2018 at Hotel Avenue Regent, MG Road, Kochi. The objective of the programme was to keep the EXIM community informed about the basics of FTAs and how to take advantage of the ones already signed by India. The government of India is the signatory to many Free Trade Agreements with various countries and it is absolutely essential for the EXIM community and particularly exporters to go into minute details of this Free Trade Agreements and SafeGuard Duties to take advantage of the tariff structure and concessions under Free Trade Agreements. Mr Pulela Nageshwara Rao, Chief Commissioner, Central Excise and Customs inaugurated the Seminar. Mr Sudhakar Kasture, International Trade Consultant Mumbai was the lead speaker who spoke about FTAs. Other speakers included Mr Santhosh David, Vice President, Marine Underwriting, Bharati Axa General Insurance who spoke about Marine Insurance and Mr Vivek, Chief Manager, SBI Kalamassery touched upon Letter of Credit. Earlier Mr Deepak L. Aswani, Co-Chair, FICCI Kerala State Council delivered the welcome address and Mr Vivek George, Deputy Manager, WTC Kochi made the concluding remarks and proposed the vote of thanks. The event was attended by delegates from various Exim Companies in and around Kochi. The programme also witnessed participation from members of Cochin Custom House Brokers Association.
