Interactive session on Union Budget 2018-2019 With special focus on the GST, E- Way Bill, Insolvency and Anti Profiteering Measures

The World Trade Center Kochi partnered with Ernst & Young LLP & TiE Kerala to organise an Interactive session on Union Budget 2018-2019.The programme was held on 22 nd Feb 2018 at Taj Gateway Hotel, Ernakulam. The seminar on discussed on the macro level proposals in Direct and Indirect taxes that were outlaid in the recently presented Union Budget 2018-19.However the focus of the talks were around areas like EWay Bill, Anti-profiteering measures, Insolvency etc. Matters pertaining to GST also came up for discussion. Mr.Rajesh Nair, President ,TIE Kerala ,gave the welcome address and introduced the speakers from EY. He also gave a brief introduction about the partner associations. Mr.Prasanth Acharya, Director,EY LLP, Bangalore spoke on the indirect tax proposals in the Union Budget. Mr.Prasanth focussed his presentation on the E-Way bill and its features. He said that there is a lot of changes that have been proposed in the existing model and these are before the consideration of the Ministry. He also covered aspects of anti-profiteering measures as well as Insolvency. Mr.Mithun D’souza, Director, EY LLP, Bangalore touched upon the direct tax proposals of the budget. He covered the income tax aspects. He also took a few questions on GST and its impact on the cost of the business. Mr.Vivek George of WTC Kochi gave the concluding remarks and proposed the vote of thanks. The event witnessed good participation from the business community and concluded with dinner.
