Digitising Small and Medium Enterprises in a Connected World

The small & medium enterprise (SME) sector is frequently acknowledged by government as an important engine room for the creation of jobs and enhancement of economic growth. Such firms represent more than 90% of all businesses and a major contributor to the country’s GDP. While large Corporations and MNCs have kept themselves updated with the trends in digital technology, many Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are yet to make their first step into the Digital Era. Digitization is crucial for SMEs to progress in the future and reinvent their strategies to address the ever changing customer needs. In this regard, the World Trade Center Kochi organized a seminar on “Digitising Small and Medium Enterprises in a Connected World” at the WTC Kochi Seminar Hall. The session was held in association with the Indo American Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sameer Vakil, CEO-Globallinker was the lead speaker. He spoke on how digitisation helps companies to advance and make growth. He shared his story of him transforming from an employee to an entrepreneur. In his speech he stressed on the need for adopting digitisation. Mr. Vivek George, Deputy Manager- WTC Kochi made the opening remarks and welcome address, Mr. P. Ravindranath, President of IACC introduced the speaker, and Mr. Sandeep Raj, Coordinator-WTC Kochi proposed the vote of thanks. The session was attended by small and medium enterprises from sectors like food processing, manufacturing, services and IT.
